Most of Doug's early freelance commissions were done using acrylics, but in the early 1960s he started to use Dr. Ph. Martin's aniline dyes for translucency and clarity.
This illustrated feature for Chatelaine magazine was one of his first using aniline dyes, which Doug used for all of his 500-plus full-page color cartoons published in Playboy since the September 1964 issue.
