Doug Does Commissions for Captain America, Sebastian and Vince

Captain America brought in a copy of The Art of Doug Sneyd so Doug could personalize it.  The 248-page book, featuring 270 of Doug's 450+ Playboy cartoons, was a 2012 Eisner Award nominee in the Best Humor Publication category.

Sebastian (from Guelph, Ontario) commissioned a 10 x 14 sketch of Wonderwoman.

Vince (from Vancouver) commissioned a sketch promoting reading; he also bought a personalized copy of Unpublished Sneyd, featuring 100 of Doug's favorite Playboy gag rough rejects.

Doug's submitted thousands of gag roughs to Playboy over the years since his first cartoon was published in September 1964.

Halloween Playboy Gag Rough Reject

Since Doug's first Playboy cartoon was published in September 1964, he's submitted thousands of cartoon gag roughs.  Of course, not all can be selected for final art and ultimate publication in the magazine.

Enjoy this unpublished Halloween gag rough - an undiscovered Sneyd.

Fan Expo Canada in Toronto, August 23-26: Checking Out Exhibits

Fan Expo Canada expanded to 4 days a few years ago because of strong fan attendance so Doug and I arrive at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre a few minutes before the doors open to the public so we can see some of the exhibits before going to his table in Artist Alley.

(I had to check out the hand-made heads at The Devil's Latex, priced from $80-$250.00.  The handsome guy I'm holding was priced at $180.00.)

Doug and I met Cynthia on an Air Canada Toronto-San Diego flight to attend the July 11-15 San Diego Comic-Con, the largest comics-cartoon convention in North America.
