Doug and The CS Moore Studio Ltd. Collaborate for Mermaid Statue
Doug has granted The CS Moore Studio Ltd. the license to create the first-ever limited edition collectible statue based on Doug's work. Award-winning sculptor Clayburn Moore, known for this masterful presentation of the female form, will collaborate with Doug on a 1/8 scale statue based on a never-before-published Sneyd mermaid cartoon.
Each Sneyd Mermaid statue will include a Certificate of Authenticity featuring the cartoon. Suitable for framing, the certificate will be signed by both Sneyd and Moore.
"Doug Sneyd is one of the great cartoonists of our time," said Moore. "This is a dream come true and I couldn't be happier to be collaborating with Doug on this project . . . his charmingly cheeky cartoons capture vivacious, gorgeous women in a manner that's always fresh and irresistibly lively."
"When I told a collector of my Playboy cartoon originals that I was working on a project with Clayburn Moore, he said, 'He's a fine sculptor. You're in good company, Doug.'"
"To be associated with a sculptor of Clay's caliber on an artistic endeavor is exciting; I know fans of our work will be anxious to see the finished art. It's a great opportunity for both of us," said Doug.
The Sneyd Mermaid statue is scheduled to ship 3rd Quarter 2011. Additional details will be released at http://www.csmoorestudio.com/ as they become available.
The CS Moore Studio Ltd. was founded in 2005 by sculptor Clayburn Moore. With 20 years' experience in the collectibles business, Moore directs The CS Moore Studio, which creates licensed statues, busts and more based on noted pop culture, comic book and fantasy properties, as well as original creations.
Doug and Clay first met while exhibiting last April at C2E2. Over the months they discussed working together on the mermaid statue and met again during the 5-day San Diego Comic-Con, North America's largest comics-cartoon convention.
Doug (left) visited Clay's SDCC booth, featuring a life-size Fathom faux bronze statue, which was sold during the convention to a buyer in San Juan Capistrano, California.

Winter Home-Away-From-Home
Our winter home, since 2004, is on Terry Cove in Orange Beach, Alabama - the buildings at the upper left of this picture (taken from the balcony of my condo at Phoenix on the Bay) are directly on the Gulf of Mexico.
The post-BP oil spill cleanup is down to the final stages of restoring Alabama's pristine beaches, known for their soft, powdery quartz sand. The Alabama Gulf Coast is also known for having some of the best golf courses in the Southeast; two of Doug's favorites - when he takes a break from his artwork - are Peninsula and Rock Creek.
