Visit to Copenhagen

Our fall 2011 Scandinavian trip began in Copenhagen; naturally we wanted to see The Little Mermaid.

At the entrance to Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen's famous 20-acre amusement park - open since 1843.

Statue of Denmark's best-known author, Hans Christian Andersen.

The winter garden inside Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, Scandinavia's top art gallery, built around the personal collection of Carl Jacobsen, the son of the founder of Carlsberg Breweries.

Doug was impressed with Rodin's The Burghers of Calais in the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek; this is the second cast (1903) of 12 total permitted under French law.  The first cast (1895) is in Calais, France.
