New Artwork Collection Available at Wizard World Philadelphia

Doug's new collection of watercolor originals will be available at the 4-day Wizard World Philadelphia (May 30th through June 2nd), where he's a Special Guest.

The 10 x 14 artwork, on Arches of France cold press watercolor paper using aniline dyes, is loose and colorful yet features classic gorgeous Sneyd ladies and vibrant background watercolor washes.

Ivy Visits With Doug at the Calgary Comic Expo

It's always fun to visit with Ivy Doomkitty, who Doug and I met several years ago at the Big Wow Art booth during the San Diego ComicCon. She appeared with Featured Guest Stan Lee April 27-28th at the Calgary Comic Expo and stopped by to say "hello."

We'll see Ivy again at Wizard World in Philadelphia May 30th through June 2nd, where she's also a featured attendee.

MegaCon: Doug Stays Busy During 3-Day Convention in Orlando

Conventions are a busy time, but Doug always enjoys talking with attendees.

Jessica and Thomas (from Winter Haven, Florida/south of Orlando) stopped by to say "hello" again. They first met Doug at MegaCon in 2009; we also talked with them at Dragon*Con last year, where he was a Featured Guest.

Doug's is also a Featured Guest at Dragon*Con this year - exhibiting at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, August 30th through September 2nd.

Jeremy - also from Winter Haven, Florida - bought a copy of The Art of Doug Sneyd and had Doug personalize it with a classic Sneyd bunny sketch.

If attending Wizard World Philadelphia next weekend - May 30th through June 2nd - bring in your copy of The Art of Doug Sneyd and Doug will be happy to sign it, at no charge, or do a commissioned sketch as he did for Jeremy at MegaCon.

The 248-page hardcover book, published by Dark Horse Books, features 270 of Doug's 450+ Playboy cartoons; it was a 2012 Eisner Award nominee in the Best Humor Publication category.

Christine - from Naples, Florida - bought a preliminary pencil rough for Doug's Playboy cartoon published in the June 2004 issue (page 132) and featured in The Art of Doug Sneyd (page 112).

Chris - from Sanford, Florida - also purchased a preminary pencil rough for Doug's Playboy cartoon published in the December 1998 issue (page 117) and featured in The Art of Doug Sneyd (page 211).

MegaCon: Doug Sketches Kate

A souvenir of Kate's first comics-cartoon convention - Doug's portrait sketch done at MegaCon March 15-17, 2013.

Kate flew into Orlando from Connecticut to attend the 3-day convention with her brother.

In addition to selling original artwork, limited edition prints, Playboy preliminary pencil and color roughs, Doug also does 10 x 14 and 11 x 17 portrait sketches at conventions; his next convention is Wizard World Philadelphia May 30th through June 2nd. Steampunk Designer and Friends Visit Doug During MegaCon

Attendees in costume, especially those wearing steampunk, create a FUN factor at comics-cartoon conventions.

Doug and I appreciated visits from RJ Foster - owner and creator of Steps In Tyme Designs in Orlando - and friends attending the 3-day MegaCon in Orlando.

Doug Will Again Support the Saturday, May 18th Charity Auction in Dallas

Doug will again donate original art to the Dallas Comic Con charity auction to support the Wounded Warrior Project.

The Live Art & Auction event will be held Saturday evening, May 18 at the Double Tree Hotel (DFW Airport) starting a 8 p.m.

In addition to donating original artwork to last year's auction, Doug also participated in the live-art portion of the evening (see photos from 2012); he will do so again this year.

At last year's event, according to artist/auction coordinator Robert Luedke, over $11,000 was raised to support the needs of injured service members.

Stop by for an entertaining evening and support a worthwhile cause - see you there!

Doug's 248-page Book Available at Dallas Comic Con May 17-19th

If Dallas Comic Con attendees don't already have a copy of Doug's 248-page book, featuring 270 of his 450+ Playboy cartoons, they can buy it during the 3-day convention from Area 51 Gaming and Collectibles (Grapevine, TX).

Doug will be happy to sign books for free so bring copies from home or buy books at the Area 51 Gaming and Collectibles booth.

The Art of Doug Sneyd, published by Dark Horse Books, was an Eisner Award nominee in the Best Humor Publication category.

Doug Sketches Audrey at MegaCon/Offers Portrait Sketches in Dallas May 17-19

Doug's commissioned portrait sketches - either 9 x 12, 10 x 14 or 11 x 17 - are always popular at comics-cartoon conventions; if attending the Dallas Comic Con this weekend, stop by his booth for a visit and ask about having one done during the 3-day event.

While sketching Audrey at MegaCon in Orlando, Doug learned she was a senior attending art school in Sarasota, Florida.

Later, I visited Audrey and fellow classmates at the Ringling College of Art and Design booth; the private, not-for-profit, fully accredited college (as of 2010) had a student population of approximately 1,300 from 46 states and 46 countries.
