The Georgia Aquarium, which opened to the public in November 2005, is the world's largest aquarium, housing more than 120,000 animals of 500 different species in 6 different galleries.
It was funded mostly by a $250 million donation by Bernard Marcus, the co-founder of Home Depot.
After visiting the Georgia Aquarium, Doug and I walked across Pemberton Place to visit the World of Coca-Cola, which chronicles and celebrates over 125 years of soft drink history. John Pemberton, an Atlanta pharmacist, is credited with inventing the unique Coca-Cola formula.
We then toured the historic Margaret Mitchell House and Museum to learn more about the author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel,
Gone with the Wind, and the making of the movie starring Vivian Lee and Clark Gable.
Another important Atlanta tourist attraction is CNN Worldwide to visit newsrooms and meet on-air broadcast personalities.
