Doug Personalizes Baseball at Dallas Comic Con

Most of Doug's sketches at comics-cartoon conventions are done on Arches of France cold press paper/art board or in copies of Unpublished Sneyd, featuring 100 of his favorite Playboy gag rough rejects.

However, on Saturday, May 19 at the Dallas Comic Con, an attendee commissioned Doug to personalize a baseball.  No problem!  He did a likeness of Lydia from the October 1994 (p. 113) cartoon published in Playboy.  It was also reproduced on the cover of The Art of Doug Sneyd, published by Dark Horse Comics.

The 248-page book, featuring nearly 270 of Doug's 450+ Playboy cartoons, has been nominated for a 2012 Eisner Award in the Best Humor Publication category.  Eisner Award winners will be announced Friday evening, July 13 at the San Diego Comic-Con, the largest comics-cartoon convention in North America.

Personalized Copies of Unpublished Sneyd Are Always A Popular Convention Souvenir

Since his first full-page color cartoon was published in Playboy - September 1964, Doug has submitted thousands of cartoon gag roughs to the magazine.  Of course, not all can be selected for final art and ultimate publication in Playboy

Unpublished Sneyd features his 100 favorite unpublished gag roughs; he personalized the book with a B & W sketch on the Introduction Page for Dallas Comic Con attendees Yen, Kim, Ashton, Mandy and Stephanie.

Doug's next comics-cartoon convention is July 11-15 in San Diego; he exhibits with Big Wow Art.  Check the SDCC program for the group's booth location.

Doug Sketches Dallas Comic Con Attendees Michelle, Kimi and Cara in Unpublished Sneyd

Michelle, Kimi and Cara were first-time attendees at the Dallas Comic Con; May 19-20 was the 10th anniversary show for co-owners Ben Stevens and Philip Wise.

The ladies decided a great convention souvenir would be personalized copies of Unpublished Sneyd.

Michelle is from Houston.

Kimi and husband Sean are from Houston.

Although it was Cara's first time at the Dallas Comic Con, she was in the comics-cartoon spirit - dressing as Zatanna.

Dallas Comic Con: Doug Does 11 x 17 Pencil Sketch of Chan

Doug was a Featured Guest at the May 19-20 Dallas Comic Con; he started the 2-day convention by sketching Chan, who lives near Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Personalized pencil sketches keep Doug busy at comics-cartoon conventions; he generally does either 9 x 12 or 10 x 14 but with a new 16 x 20 Arches of France cold press art board, he now offers 11 x 17, which Chan wanted.

To commission a sketch during the July 11-15 San Diego Comic-Con, check the program for Big Wow Art; Doug has exhibited with Steve Morger's group since 2007.

Bunny ears are always an fun option!
