Saturday, August 18: "An Evening With Legendary Playboy Cartoonist Doug Sneyd"

The Comic Book Lounge + Gallery - 587 College Street (at Clinton) in Toronto - celebrates the career of Playboy cartoonist Doug Sneyd Saturday, August 18, from 7-10 p.m.  Admission is $10.00 per person.

Attendees can mingle with Lounge bunnies, enjoy a cocktail and view dozens of Doug's Playboy preliminary pencil and color roughs and published cartoons.

An exclusive 11 x 17 limited edition print of Black Canary, done in Doug's classic Playboy style, will also be available for purchase from the Lounge.

Prize drawings will take place throughout the evening, including the chance for one lucky lady to have a sketch done by Doug, described as a "gifted cartoonist whose whimsical and oh so slightly naughty works have captivated and titillated audiences for more than four decades."

Doug's first full-page color cartoon appeared in the September 1964 issue of Playboy.  He's had over 450 cartoons published in the magazine, with 270 featured in the 248-page The Art of Doug Sneyd - published by Dark Horse Comics and nominated for a 2012 Eisner Award in the Best Humor Publication category.

The Comic Book Lounge + Gallery is open daily 12-7 p.m. and Sundays 12-5 p.m.

Friends wearing costumes stopped by the Big Wow Art booth to say "hello."

2012 San Diego Comic-Con Exhibits

Thousands of attendees camped out overnight and waited in long, long lines to be the first to enter the exhibit hall for the July 11-15, 2012 San Diego Comic-Con, the largest comics-cartoon convention in North America.

Movie studios, TV networks and major retailers, with exhibits in the central section of the San Diego convention center, were rushed when the doors opened each day.  Free swag bags, t-shirts, posters, etc. were big draws, and within minutes the aisles were swarming with fans.

Most exhibitors try to get into the convention center before the doors open to the public; it's a great time to check out some of the more popular booths before getting crowded.
