Doug Sketches Charlotte, Rachel, Cynthia and Cecilia at Montreal ComicCon

Doug's portrait sketches (9 x 12, 10 x 14 or 11 x 17) are always popular at comics-cartoon conventions.

Charlotte lives about an hour outside Montreal.

Rachel said her sketch would be a great souvenir from the 3-day convention.

While Doug was sketching Cynthia (from Ottawa), she told him this was her FIRST comics-cartoon convention and admitted, too, that she was having a lot of fun.

Besides having Doug do a portrait sketch, Cecilia (from Montreal) attended a number of panel discussions during the 3-day convention.

Doug Donates 11 x 17 Mermaid Original to Emerald City Comicon Charity Auction

Doug, exhibiting as a ECCC Featured Guest, is donating this 11 x 17 watercolor original to the 2013 Emerald City Comicon charity auction.  His mermaid will also appear in the 2013 Monsters and Dames full-color, 9 x 12 hardcover art book featuring contributions from guests and artists of the March 1-3 convention in Seattle.

Bruce Timm did the cover for the 80-page art book, limited to 1,150 individually numbered copies, priced at $30.00 each.

Since its inception in 2009, the Monsters and Dames art book and Emerald City Comicon charity art auctions have raised over $35,000.00 for the Seattle Children's Hospital, a premier child health care pediatric center.

The art book, featuring "pin-ups of creatures and cuties by your favorite artists," will be sold at the ECCC merchandise booth during the 3-day convention, March 1-3, 2013.

After Dragon*Con: Sightseeing in Atlanta

The Georgia Aquarium, which opened to the public in November 2005, is the world's largest aquarium, housing more than 120,000 animals of 500 different species in 6 different galleries.

It was funded mostly by a $250 million donation by Bernard Marcus, the co-founder of Home Depot.

After visiting the Georgia Aquarium, Doug and I walked across Pemberton Place to visit the World of Coca-Cola, which chronicles and celebrates over 125 years of soft drink history.  John Pemberton, an Atlanta pharmacist, is credited with inventing the unique Coca-Cola formula.

We then toured the historic Margaret Mitchell House and Museum to learn more about the author of  the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, Gone with the Wind, and the making of the movie starring Vivian Lee and Clark Gable.

Another important Atlanta tourist attraction is CNN Worldwide to visit newsrooms and meet on-air broadcast personalities.
