Bunny Sketches in The Art of Doug Sneyd

When Doug does a bunny profile sketch in The Art of Doug Sneyd, he starts with a quick prelim in red pencil.

Ken sat and talked with Doug as he personalized The Art of Doug Sneyd.

It's convenient for SDCC attendees to walk across the aisle and buy copies of The Art of Doug Sneyd from Stuart Ng Books.

Stopping by Dark Horse

Doug and I email contacts at Dark Horse throughout the year, but it's at the top of my SDCC photo list to stop by the booth before Preview Night and say "hello" to . . .

Kari

Sarah

Within minutes, crowds on Preview Night will swarm Dark Horse to meet authors and buy comics, books and collectibles.

Simon and Valerie Visit Before Preview Night

A highlight of SDCC is visiting with friends.

We met Simon at SDCC in 2007.  He lives in East Sussex, which is about 50 minutes to London's Victoria Station.  Besides seeing him during SDCC, when we're in London, he takes the train in and meets us for lunch.

We met Valerie Perez at the May 2014 Big Wow Comic Fest in San Jose, California; she's a GREAT Wonder Woman!

Before SDCC Opens to Attendees: Dr. Who, Ash vs. Evil Dead and Hot Wheels Booths

An ideal time to see exhibits is right before the doors open to the public.

Before SDCC Opens to Attendees: Star Wars Booth

Once the doors open to the public and the aisles get crowded, it's impossible to get a close look at booths so we try to set up by 9 a.m. at Big Wow Art (4903) and then take a short walk around the convention center.

Hard Rock Hotel Promotes LEGO Dimensions During SDCC

After lunch with Robyn and Terry Moore, Doug and I walked back to the convention center and passed by the Hard Rock Hotel, with an offsite promotion for LEGO Dimensions, an upcoming LEGO action-adventure video game developed by Traveller's Tales and published/distributed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

The initial release date is September 27th.

Lunch With Robyn and Terry Moore

Batman has always been a fan favorite at SDCC so Doug and I weren't surprised "to see" the superhero in the lobby at the Omni Hotel, where we were meeting Robyn and Terry Moore for lunch.

It's a fun tradition for us to enjoy lunch at McCormick and Schmick's and catch up on projects, deadlines, travel, etc.

Meeting Friends for Lunch Wednesday; NBC Offsite Promotions

Doug and I left the convention center around 11:30 to meet friends for lunch at the Omni (far right).  Traffic was still light at the entrance gate to the Gaslamp District; work crews were finishing up offsite promotions for NBC's HEROES Reborn and Blindspot

An NBC executive remarked, "Comic-Con is the Super Bowl of television marketing."

So, HEROES Reborn - scheduled to debut Thursday, September 24th at 8 p.m. - had offsite promotion as well as in the convention center.

NBC also promoted Blindspot at Tin Fish, a popular restaurant just across the train tracks from the convention center.  The amnesia ridden cop drama, starring Thor's Jaime Alexander, premieres Monday, September 21st; last year NBC promoted The Blacklist at Tin Fish.

McCormick & Schmick's in the Omni is a great place to have lunch with friends before SDCC officially opens with Preview Night.
