Before crossing the bridge to the Isle of Skye, we stopped at the Eilean Donan Castle, situated on an island at the point where three sea lochs meet. The first fortified castle was built in the mid-13th Century.

Scottish heather was still in bloom on the rugged, remote terrain of the Isle of Skye.
Scotland is a beautiful country with many interesting places to visit, and while I try not to be caught up in tourist hype, I couldn't resist the legend of the Loch Ness monster, fondly called Nessie. A private company on Loch Ness during the summer floats a 3-section barge carrying a fiberglass Nessie. Since the busy tourist season had ended when we were there, the attraction was now on shore and the barge camouflaged by rocks.
