On the Road . . . Chester

The bronze elephant calf in front of the Coooperative Bank in the city center was a recent gift from the 110-acre Chester Zoo, which has a bronze adult elephant at its main entrance. In 2007 Forbes described the Chester Zoo as one of the best 15 zoos in the world.

Chester Cathedral is considered one of the finest and most complete monastic complexes in the U.K.

The "Rows" is the major shopping area in Chester.

During our walking tour of the "Rows," Doug and I stopped for lunch at The Old Crypt.
