Photo of Doug in Studio - Published in Secret Sneyd

When people visit Doug in Orillia, they're typically curious to see his studio - on the third floor of his home overlooking Lake Couchiching.

So, Doug wasn't surprised when his editor - Freddye Miller at Dark Horse Books - asked for a *photo of him in the studio to use with the company's latest hardcover book:  Secret Sneyd:  The Unpublished Cartoons of Doug Sneyd

Friends from Mississauga, Ontario - Neil and Leigh Mechem - were driving up for lunch so I asked them to bring along a camera and take a photo of Doug in the studio - left window overlooks Lake Couchiching.

*Leigh's photo was published on p. 280.

The 280-page hardcover book - released April 18, 2017 - features 250 of Doug's unpublished loose-style unpublished gags, chosen from the thousands submitted to Playboy since the early 1960s.

It's now available at local bookstores or online at:

Also, if you're a fan of cartoons, comic books or animation, you might enjoy getting a copy of The Artist Within (photographer Greg Preston, Dark Horse Books, 2007).

Over the years, Doug and I have met a number of the artists - and their studios - featured in the book, including Sergio Aragones, Mort Walker, Neal Adams, Stan Sakai, Howard Chaykin, Jim Silke, Mike Mignola, Bill Morrison, Eldon Dedini, Olivia, Frank Cho, etc.
