SCOOPS Syndication

Doug developed a self-syndicated satirical strip, titled SCOOPS, in 1978. Unlike other strips with political orientation, such as Li'l Abner or Doonesbury, SCOOPS was not tied to a central character, story line or location so Doug could cast his satirist's eye wherever he chose - one day it focused on the Canadian Prime Minister, the next day it zeroed in on the U.S. Senate, famine in Africa or the oil-rich Middle East.

SCOOPS combined the best elements of the editorial cartoon with those of the comic strip and appeared on editorial and op-ed pages throughout Canada and the U.S. for nearly a decade.
